A span represents a single unit of work within a distributed trace. Each HTTP request, database query, or message queue operation generates one span. Mesh-Trace counts ingested spans after sampling, so tail-based sampling can significantly reduce your billable volume.
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the remainder of your billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. No penalties or lock-in periods.
